As the mother of a teenage daughter, I now realise the significance of the other people in her life. Young adults, older female friends etc. It seems that teenagers are very slow to hear ANYTHING out of the mouths of their parents :) But they can hear that same thing from someone else and listen. Where would I have been with out these other people.
I was one such teenage, 25 years ago, when a family friend asked me why I was speaking so badly to my Mother and giving her grief. Can't remember the exact words, but it doesn't matter, they had effect! I heard her, and took a long look at myself and made changes. This was one of a few events that bought me back to trusting God, and doing life in his strength.
Barb Cleaver was that person for me on this occasion.
Proverbs 15:23 (The Message)
23 Congenial conversation—what a pleasure!
The right word at the right time—beautiful!
Flash back photo. Holiday fun in Queensland with the Cleavers. Barb is currently very unwell, and short of a miracle from God or with this next round of Chemo, she may only have a few more weeks before heaven.
Barb thanks for being a beautiful friend, thanks for being there when I needed you. Thanks for being YOU.
