I commented to a friend last week that Bronte seemed to have grown up almost overnight. Their comment in response "Do you think that happened on her birthday??" They were having a go at me!! Imagine.
Well whenever it happened, she really has grown up. She is most certainly taller but she is now more responsible and also better company.
I made her Strawberry Hazelnut Gateau from the old Best Ever cookbook by Women's Weekly. I have very fond memories of my Mum making this for special occasions and the texture and flavours took me back. Everything that is good about this cake was not lost on Bronte - the birthday girl was wrapped and enjoyed the leftovers as much as the piece on the day.
Should mention that Bronte now has phone. I wonder how old Capri will be when she gets her first phone - scary thought.
