Have I mentioned that we are heading to Vanuatu in July. Yes all of us. Mad, maybe be, but excited definitely.
A group of 22 from our church are in full planning for a 10 day mission to Ranwadi Churches of Christ High School on the Island of Pentecost. We hope to build a new classroom for them, but only time will tell if we get that far. Today we heard that the site that has been set aside for the room has two grave sites on it - sounds potentially complicated to me. Anyway we will continue to pray that God will be able to use us to bless the school in many ways.
Saturday Peta, Fay and I set out to Coles to buy our supplies as these all need to be sent ahead of us. Peta had done a stack of work getting a menu planned and a very loooooooooonng shopping list. We will have no refrigeration and very limited access to fresh fruit, veg and meat during our stay. SO, this was a very different kind of shop to the one we would normally do to cater for our families or any other function in Australia. We had 20kg of rice, a heap of tinned meat and fish, milk powder, lentils and all sorts of other yummy long life ingredients. I would have loved to have got a shot of the full trolleys but a conscientious staff member told us that no photography is allowed in their stores.
Monday we headed out to the Keogh's to pack our crates. Vicki had done an awesome job putting things into meals so that we could check that we had everything. All was then taken out to the garage where it was packed into our boxes and an inventory made. The boxes are extremely heavy and we are praying that we will be able to get a removal company on a back load to Brisbane at a reasonable cost. Alternatively Paul will be putting them in the trailer and taking them hopefully with one of the other lads. Can't see myself being much use lifting something that size.
