I never had the opportunity to cook with my Grandmothers as they were not around to do so. I do remember making apricot balls with Mum, but a little like Bronte I started out OK but was usually happy to leave mum to it. Rolling balls, getting all sticky and coconutty was only appealing for a short time. It was much more fun just eating them. I still like apricot balls at Christmas.
I fondly remember watching Mum cook shortbread, fruit cakes, mince tarts etc etc - my Mum is a legend in the kitchen at Christmas and all year round!
