Callum, Felicity, Georgia and Bronte took off on the train to Sydney on Oct 4 these passed school holidays. Paul, Capri and I headed in the same direction by car. We left not long after them thinking that we would have time to relax in Sydney for a few hours before picking them up at Hornsby. That's what we thought. Being a public holiday made that a more difficult task, we had a very long stop for lunch as it seemed every man and his wife also needed lunch at the same time - it took ages. We then had a hold up on the freeway where things just came to a crawl for no apparent reason. Anyway all that is boring. In the nick of time Paul had dropped us girls to Beecroft and he turned around and picked up the kids from Hornsby. They came back and settled in to Mum and Dad's, ate well and were off to bed by 8.30pm. Mum could not believe it! But we all agreed it was probably just what they needed before a 4 day camp. Paul, Capri and I were staying with Stu and Lyndall.
Tuesday the 5th we headed out to Bicentennial Park at Homebush. After a few U turns we finally found the bike hire place. We picked up some tandems for the youth, and a few extra wheels for those that didn't have access to there own. After a few wobbles and Bronte smacking Georgia in the face, somehow, a few tears and a pep talk we were on our way. It was a hoot. I love the sensation of free wheeling down the hills with the wind in my hair, the satisfaction of working hard to get up a hill, and today the pride in seeing my four year old nephew Joel hold his own on his little two wheeler. He is a champion.
We enjoyed a drink from the cafe and a snack in the park before embarking on Stage 2 of the day. Capri was off loaded to Pa's car along with his bike and he returned home along with Stu, Lyndall and the kids. Paul and I took the campers via Direct Factory Outlet (DFO) as requested. Here we had 60mins of shopping.
From there we were very glad of the GPS that directed us across Sydney to Stanwell Tops. All of the kids were excited and nervous, but from later reports it appears that camp was great from beginning to end. Will try to get Bronte to source some photos and record some more details later.
