Narrabri

As the Chair of the Armidale Council Tourism Commitee, Paul was asked to attend the Inland Tourism awards at Narrabri. It fell in the holidays so we thought that we would make a weekend of it. Bronte asked her friend Laura to join us and together they looked after Capri when we went out on Saturday night. After checking in to the motel we drove out to the telescopes. There are five telescopes here that operate together to collect information.
Back at the motel Capri picked up the phone to call.....someone. She had a great long chat, very animated and loud ;)


The Cotton Centre had been sent 3D glasses that had been made back to front. 3D is difficult to watch at the best of times but try putting a pair of 3D glasses on upside down in front of a regular pair of specs, not easy I say.

Sawn Rocks 30km out of Narrabri on the way home.
We pull in here thinking that the rocks would be "right there" to see, but alas they were not. I got out of the car with the girls to check the situation out. The sign said 750m - 1 hour round trip. Aahhh, don't have an hour but they always seem to exagerate the times on walks. Kathy Freeman can run 400mts in what....?? a couple of minutes. It is not even twice that!! So away we went, walking. Well we just kept coming to another corner, and another......I would pause, think about Paul sitting in the car with the sleeping babe and say "Bronte run and see what you can see". The further we went the more we really wanted to see the rocks, the more we expected them to be just around the corner!! We did run several sections and finally arrived at these beautiful, mysterious rock formations. then we ran just about all the way back. Maybe it was 750m there and 750m back - who knows. Glad we made it.
Sadly all the shops in Narrabri were closed when we got there Sat midday, well accespt for Coles and Target but that doesn't count. no coffe shops, nothing. But I did buy one thing this radiantly bright photo frame made out of a product called Cotton leather. It is made from the off cuts of cotton fabrics that are teased until fluffy and then processed like paper. I love my little souviner.
