Yesterday I attended a workshop at the Art Gallery. Artists Lucy and Barry McCann have been in residence at the gallery for over a month. I have enjoyed chatting to them on a number of occassions and decided to get a few tips by attending a class. Thankfully Capri dropped a feed this week which made it very easy. I had been doing a few sketches prior to the class, not nearly as many as I planned to do BUT some.
They set me up and left me to draw some geese, which I found a little nerve racking. I got one goose done :) in about 40mins. The tips were small but significant. Really I just need to practice, practice practice.
The sketch of Capri was done in about 15mins - man faces are challenging. But the style of getting the info on paper was really good - Kind of like contour drawing.
I think Barry wante to tease me or encourage me into colour and did this watercolour of our Roster in about 7 mins. he left me to finish the bottom half which I did tentitively and didn't brave the background :(
